Behind The Rose

All of you on facebook saw the Beautiful picture of 32 Roses that I posted yesterday; One for every year that Rich and I have been Married. What you "might" not know is why.
When Rich and I got Married- he was an E-5 in the Army and our very first "home" was in Washington State. Our first apartment,an unfurnished two bedroom one bath and the only thing we owned was my Cedar Chest and a small 8 inch Black and White TV. We had a nice new car but didn't have much money for gas and our furniture was the best our budget could rent and when you also have a child it's a bit more challenging. Absolutely none of that mattered to us, we were beginning the rest of our life's with each other, I had Married the Man of my dreams and as long as we were together we could handle whatever came our way. When our First Anniversary came, we didn't have money for a babysitter or a special evening out; instead I had spent a few extra dollars on a nice cut of meat and I made him the best dinner I knew how to make {my cooking has improved over the years} He brought home a single rose and told me that he planned to buy me a Rose for every year of Marriage and every year he does just that. Whenever I get my bouquet..I always look at the one in the center and remember that wonderful day..The Single Rose where all our years of celebrating began.

Charlotte

For us the most important thing about yesterday was our Granddaughter's FIRST Birthday! As many of our "comrades in The Foreign Service" can understand, missing important Family events is the hardest thing's we have to do. BUT-- with today's technology we were able to do the next best thing and Skype with her! She was so very cute {can't believe how much she has grown} She sat on the couch with her Daddy and repeatedly said Hi..clapped her hands and blew us kisses!!! She loved her gifts- the doll being her favorite. We watched her walk around carrying her doll being so gentle with it; at one point she had a balloon in one hand and a bottle of  Daddy's unopened Beer in the other--it was funny to watch our son move so fast as he quickly raced around to "replace" things out of her reach! LOL Marissa was busy decorating the Party tables while her Mother Jan helped out in the kitchen, everything looked beautiful! One wall was decorated with brightly colored framed pictures of Charlotte s First year while out front guest were greeted with a big welcome sign and a giant air house bouncer! {Marissa said that the people coming for the Super Bowl Party would probably have more fun with it!} It was wonderful being able to spend a virtual hour with them..even got to sing Happy Birthday to the baby.
Tomorrow we hope to be able do the same thing with our Granddaughter Shealynn, as she turn's 9!!!!! February may be a short month but, it's our busiest with five Birthdays and our Anniversary! Rich has already mentioned that he needs to set up a special account for this month.
I cant close out this update without mentioning Super Bowl XLVI New York Giants VS New England Patriots The Giants defeated the Patriots on a last minute touchdown after trailing the Patriots 17-9 early in the third quarter. Giants put up the last 12 points of the game for the win 21-17!!!!!!!!!!! Exciting game and I'll end with Thank you New England Patriots and Goodnight.

And the Winner is..

Clue # 1 was: Our next vacation will take us to the Earth's hemisphere where objects moving across or above the Earth's surface tend to turn to the right because of the Coriolis Effect
Clue # 2 was: If you are lucky, you could stumble upon the source of DNA like that which started the dinosaur colony on the movie Jurassic Park
Today we have a WIN!!!! Both Chris AND Corey made the correct guess of: The Baltic Sea.
"HOWEVER" Chris also added "perhaps a Cruise" to his answer so, to be fair BOTH Chris and Corey will receive an amount of $100.00 of "Shipboard Credit" on their room account AND for guessing a "cruise" Chris and Marissa will receive a {one minute} head start on the Fisher Family Amazing Race!
CONGRATULATIONS
Now the Fun begins as Rich and I begin to prepare for Vacation 2013. This trip promises to be "The Best One" yet, with twists and turns galore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Gingerbread Man

As many of you have already seen on my Facebook page, Our Grandson Brady is having a classroom problem; it seems the Gingerbread Man has run-off his page! If any one has seen him would you please send a Postcard form your State, County or Country to:
Frederiksen Elementary School
7243 Tamarack Drive
Dublin, Ca. 94568
         ATTN: Mrs Gundell-Room 18
The class will be attempting to track The Gingerbread Man on his journey. Thank you everyone in advance for your help.
As many of you know, today was "Clue #2" for our next Family Vacation...I wish the kids "Good Luck' with clue-2 "think-think-think" I would also like to remind the families that although they might be visiting with each other, It's still not fair to collaborate-- Only one team will win!
As I write this we now have some snow on the ground and we're about to enter the deep-freeze with the temps scheduled to drop -6. I'm looking forward to a very cold crisp walk; come on minus degree weather..don't let me down!!! Thus far my last winter in Switzerland has been a big disappointment! The world just doesn't seem to make winters like it used to!!!
