FFV 2011

Well we have continued to keep busy planning our Fisher Family Vacation. Our Amazing Race only has a few "tweaks" to work out upon our arrival to Edinburgh; and the winning Team "gift" is on the way; Of course the winners will only hold it until the next race- I can't wait to see who get's it first!! The tickets to the Military Tattoo have arrived and are safely tucked away, last but not least..we have decided to go with a light jacket this year "because of the Scottish weather" They arrived on Wednesday, and are wonderful!
The Fisher Family Crest, the name Fisher under the crest, and our location and year:
On Forest Green
Draw strings on each side, breathable mesh and soft grey lining
all weather sport that will repel rain

  We even got the Grandchildren one, the only difference in theirs is: Family Crest, Place and year are centered on the back of the jacket. {it wouldn't fit on the front}
And not to worry about the size, you'll have room for a sweater underneath if you wish!
12 more weeks kids!!!

Tomorrow

Sorry for not posting for awhile- I trust everyone had a wonderful Easter; Rich and I spent the weekend in Germany with my cousin Linda and her husband Chris..we had an amazing time and being with family was a much needed gift. Chris and Marissa spent Easter with Craig and Trista so the Grandchildren were able to enjoy the day together as well..we were sent some cute pictures of the babies and will post them soon.
Today and tomorrow our thoughts are with our youngest son Corey. An amazing young man indeed! After a lot of School, Studies and preparation- he will take his MCAP tomorrow! No-matter how thing's go, Rich and I are so proud of him! We were definitely blessed with "THREE" wonderful son's and I cannot express in writing how much they mean to me. Needless to say; they are and will always be our world. Good Luck tomorrow Corey!!

The Rocking Chair

My Grandfather Ashe made this rocking chair for my Grandmother "Theresa Charlotte Clark Ashe" in the 1920's. Grammy loved her rocker and always kept it in her big kitchen where she would have her tea and rock her babies; back then and even today many of us "live" in our kitchens. With the detail workmanship you can tell that the chair was made with patience and love. Even my Mother was rocked in this chair...sadly my Grandmother passed away from Typhoid when my Mother was just three. Not bearing to look at it sitting empty in the kitchen corner next to the wooden cooking stove- Grampa moved the chair into the barn and covered it up. When my Mother married she took a few items with her, the rocker being one of them. I remember all the times growing up, sitting in her lap- rocking while she told me stories of how Grampa built the chair and "lots" of other stories about her and her sister growing up. No-matter what my Mother was doing or how much housework she had to get done, come the early afternoon I always got to sit on my Mother's lap- rocking back and forth, listening about all the childhood stories she had to tell. I remember always feeling so safe and loved. As I grew older I would sit in the chair alone, remembering the stories and dreaming a few of my own. The older I got- the more it became my comfort; hard to explain...but just sitting in the rocker was "HUGS" As I got older...so did the chair:

It was breaking down and I couldn't bear to toss it out....Rich knew how much this rocker meant to me, so he asked around at the Embassy and was told about this man who does re-finishing. He met with him, showed him the chair and told him how important it was not to "re-do" but preserve the chair. He even complimented my Grandfathers work by saying how much time he must have put into the chair, noticing that the arms were just one piece of wood that had been soaked and bent over time."Rockers are not made like this anymore"Well, it took awhile but I finely got my Rocker back

When I first saw it, it took my breath away...then there was panic..."my Grandfathers chair...what have we done!?!
I took me almost all day; but I finely sat down in the chair and slowly began to rock. Closing my eyes- it was all coming back and they are STILL there....My hugs from the past.

Last weekend

My cousin Linda and her husband Chris arrived on Friday evening to spend the weekend, Rich and I really enjoy their company and as always; it's great to sit-relax and catch-up on our lives! They live in Stuttgart Germany so we're just three hours from each other. It was a beautiful weekend with the temps in the 70's, so we had decided to do the Open Air Market in Bern...and then to take them up the Gurten to view the Alps.

April 1st

I woke this morning to sunshine, birds singing and a hot cup of coffee; I had to give thought to family and Friends in the North East who are bracing for a big Northeaster winter storm today. I guess the saying: The grass is always greener in your neighbors yard, could be true....but I always add: until you get there and find they have too many holes. Bottom line? Enjoy where you are and make it a wonderful place to "hang-out" Your either getting together with neighbors to create a wonderful "late winter" meal or your enjoying an early evening Barbecue with friends. But don't just sit there and sulk your life away! There are so many disasters happening in the world right now; If you have a home, untainted food and drink and there are no bombs going off all around you...your FINE!! So enjoy...you never know when it will be taken away. And while your taking time to enjoy the falling snow or a walk on a beautiful Spring day, Please send up a prayer for those who aren't as lucky as you are. Happy April 1st everyone.
